Using SBS 2011 Std and have been using Exchange. Now switching to Office 365 and its Hosted Exchange but still using the same domain.
I am using Outlook 2013 but adding the new email account via Control Panel | Mail | Email Accounts. If I try to add this new online Exchange email account, it will not verify my username. I receive the error message "The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
If I try to do this with Outlook open, I get a message saying that Outlook must be closed to add the Exchange account.
The local Exchange server is still running and I am guessing it is needed for Active Directory purposes. The conflict would seem to be in having the local Exchange Server setup to receive email for bill@mycompany.com and this new Office 365 Hosted Exchange setup to manage email for the same domain and user bill@mycompany.com.
Suggestions would be appreciated.
