I have been attempting to transfer my email from 1and1 to my new Office365 Account, while retaining my website at 1and1. I've read a lot of articles on this forum and elsewhere, had advice from 1and1 tech support, but remain confused and without email for 3 days now. I'd certainly appreciate help.
1and1 Tech support advise me that there is no static IP address for the type of Web Package I have with them.
My 1and1 Domain Overview (pictured) shows 4 domains.
- The original Domain, "mydomain".co.uk(DNS) where I've edited the MX 1/Prio to read mdxxxxxxxx.autodiscover.outlook.com
- The 1and1 Subdomain s44nnnnnnn.initial-website.co.uk(MX) which has a Forward Destination to http://"my domain".co.uk
- A subdomain I created for the purpose of using Office365, mdxxxxxxxx."mydomain".co.uk(DNS)(MX) which has a CNAME Settings Alias of psmicrosoftonline.com
- A subdomain created on the advice of 1and1 tech support, autodiscover.outlook.com."my domain".co.uk(DNS). The Basic DNS Settings for this have been changed to My Name Server, And the Advanced DNS Settings: Primary name Server: ns1.bdm.microsoftonline.com; Secondary name server: ns2.bdm.microsoftonline.com
I originally verified the owner ship of "Mydomain".co.uk with Office365 Wizard by using a different and apparently incorrect MX1/Prio value to that above.
In the Office 365 Admin, I have followed the 5 steps to set up "Mydomain".co.uk to work with Office 365, but without success. I have been waiting long periods (days) to see if it would work but am not convinced that I've got it right.
Do I need to restart the verification of ownership (Step 1) having changed the MX 1/Prio values?
In Step 5, Complete the Process, when I select Done, Go Check I am advised that Name server 1 currently points to ns67.1and1.co.uk while it should point to ns1.bdm.microsoftonline.com A similar error occurs for Name Server 2.
As I am the only user within my domain, use of Autodiscover when setting up Outlook on my computer is not vitally important to me.
Any help the Community could give me will be very gratefully received!
Thanks
Ian
